How we develop as an artist is through varied life experience full of teachers formal and informal. It does not matter if your have learned at a prestigious college or with a mentor at the kitchen table. What matter is the joy your work brings to you and others. Art is meant to be shared, to communicate and to be a part of our everyday.
I have always been "restless" when it came to mediums. Picking up whatever suited and using it by itself and in combination to bring out desired qualities. I use what suits the purpose and often in non-traditional ways. It makes things more varied and interesting and each new media adds to those that have been mastered before it.

Covid put in vivid spotlight the the worst effect mass production has on our psyche. With the dire gloom bombarding us in the media came this dreadful, dreary fashion. Our shops were filled with reproduction depression era sacks for clothes! If all the things going on in the world were not bad enough we were being forced into these mass produced dreary sacks, poorly designed and dreadfully made. It made me mad, so I rebelled. That is where my sandshoes come from. Forget the impossible pressure of keeping sandshoes white. Stop feeling that you are colourless from head to toe and ensure you stand out in the crowd. Each pair is unique. No 2 panels, let alone shoes are ever the same. One pair of shoes for most occasions. Easy to slip on, comfortable to wear and unforgettable to the eye. Perfect for the rebel on the move. Cheap accessible wearable art.
As the weather turns bleak and grey in South East Queensland, it seems that the grey of the clouds is soaking into everything. People are reaching for their "winter drab" wardrobe. Bah humbug, fight the good fight and resist the winter blues. Be daring, take a chance, fight against the ugliness of the mass produced garbage hanging in stores. Add colour, be yourself and be happy despite the tragic weather. Winter is way too long to be trapped in black and beige. Fact, colour effects your sense
